Top Out Toad captures a determined little toad just barely making it over the edge of a climb, both feet locked into desperate heel hooks as he wrestles his way through the topout. He’s struggling, he’s committed, and somehow, against all odds, he’s getting there. A small tribute to those wonderfully awkward climbing moments when technique gets questionable, dignity disappears, and the only thing that matters is making it over the top.

This piece was inspired by the iconic multi pitch trad climbing route "Caver's Route" here in the Red River Gorge. Sure - the final top out doesn't quite look this serious. But how I giggled as I imagined what climbing this route would be like for a cumbersome little toad, heel-hooking his way to victory.
